REFUGEES - LIVE PERFORMANCE
Wimbledon College Theatre
2020
Role: Performer, Designer, Video Designer
Project team: Gui Bin,David Medina Aguila, Alessandra Isolan, Francesca Tincungco
The main goal of the performance is to represent with a few but significant fragments of images the sensory and emotional experience to which the refugee is forced to undergo. In order to guarantee a dream-like and sensory dimension and bring the audience’s feelings closer to those felt by a hypothetical protagonist, the material chosen to assemble the performance is light. Light, with variations in color, intensity and position, can present itself as a highly evocative and communicative material.
The performance is structured as a sequence of movements and video projections representing the journey of a refugee. The structure of the action is divided into three different moments that takes different significance.
The first segment deals with investigating the reasons why the protagonist is forced to change his situation and embark on a journey.
The second fragment concerns the journey and the feelings associated with it.
The third segment represents the conclusion of the journey. The journey of the protagonist becomes the journey of millions of people.
